Learn about a company, fast - corporate presentations
Tue, Mar 09, 2010, 4:18:47 PM

If you really want to understand a company, you need to read through the quarterly reports and listen to the quarterly conference calls. This can be very time consuming. So before you make this investment of your time and energy, I find the presentations that executives make at investment conferences to be very informative. You can go through the powerpoint presentation in around 10 minutes. It is a good way to get a quick overview of the company. Then, if you like what you see, you can go through the reports and calls to make an investment decision.
Here are the latest presentations for some companies that I like:
Holly Energy Partners, HEP
Regency, RGNC
Jaguar Mining, JAG
Minefinders, MFN
Walter Investment, WAC
Coeur d'Alene, CDE
MarkWest, MWE
EOG Resources
Anadarko, APC
Peabody Energy, BTU
Denbury, DNR
Nabors
Whiting
Sociedad Quimica
Buckle, BKE
Hexcel
Endeavour, EXK
Yamana, AUY

Stephen Leeb is a very smart guy. Just read any of his books, and you will see he is usually way ahead of the market.
HERE
is a short video on his views of silver.

Ok, if you have looked at your accounts, you probably noticed that there are no holdings there. Everyone's account has been reset to $100,000. All existing holdings have been moved over to your watchlist (available under 'My Stuff').

I just released a new site for investors interested Gold & Silver. Here is the site:
GoldForTheFuture.com
With all the money printing that the government is doing, I have done alot of research lately into the precious metals and mining sector. Gold and silver have been making some big gains recently. Many "goldbugs" think the price of both is going a lot higher.
Check out the site, and please provide comments and feedback. Thanks.

U.S., the world, and the dollar
Sun, Nov 01, 2009, 4:35:30 AM
(311 views)
Here is an
interesting link
on I. Wallerstein, discussing the dollar, and the U.S. role in the world.
Many people are discussing the downfall of the U.S. and the dollar. The US gov't has printed an enormous amount of money. They have devalued the dollar. That means that our salaries and savings have reduced purchasing power. We, as a nation, have taken on an enormous amount of debt. We can never pay off this debt, and will eventually need to default. This is why I like gold, silver, coal, and any other commodity.
But once the U.S. does default, and the value of the dollar is cut in half, the U.S. will be in a much better place! Here is why: We are still one of the world's major food producers. We have some of the biggest reserves of coal and natural gas, and will need to use these fuels to diversify away from oil. North Dakota has been called the Saudi Arabia of wind, and Arizona is the Saudi Arabia of solar power. We have enormous amounts of geothermal energy too. Compare us to India, which doesn't have enough water (their glaciers are melting because of global warming), and doesn't have enough coal.
Here is a
link
on CoalIndia's attempts to massively increase coal imports - I'm not sure who is going to provide all of these imports? Maybe Australia, maybe the U.S.!
China has the same problems as India - not enough coal, natural gas or oil.
Finally, once our currency has been devalued, we will once again be abled to start making things in this country again, since the exchange rates will be dramatically changed to favor U.S. production.
So my point here is that, after an initial bout of serious pain related to hyperinflation of the U.S. dollar, we will be much better off. Buy commodities and precious metals now. (Of course, do your own research, stay informed, and live within your means.)

New sector group created - Coal

It's dirty. It causes global warming. It causes disease. But we are running out of it. China and India don't have enough of it, and they are importing more and more of it. Russia's supply is declining. The stock prices of its producers are going up. Here is it - Coal.
Oh, and other more thing - clean coal is a total fantasy.

Many new uses for silver
Sun, Sep 27, 2009, 6:33:33 PM

Here is a great article on silver
. Silver use is expanding in antibiotics, clothing, electronics, appliances, and solar panels.
I own 2 silver miners:
Hecla
, and
Silvercorp
, a very profitable company with mines in China.
Silver is going to have a massive run in the near future! (Just my opinion!)
